Second graders explore health and foods
The Creative Discovery Museum visited St. Peter’s 2nd grade for an in-house field trip, presenting the “Good for you, Good for Me” program. In connection with Core Knowledge Curriculum and the school’s initative of “Go Healthy, Go Green”, students focused on health through hands-on activities, such as: Mixing fruits and dairy to create a healthy snack, solving a puzzle to complete the life cycle of a pumpkin, exercising and listening to the heart beat, identifying organs, completing a skeleton puzzle, and observing germs through a special light.
Later in the week, parent Dana Jones, mother of Dylan Jones, spent the morning making homemade butter. The classes made four different flavors: plain, honey, cinnamon, and rosemary. Added to fresh bread, it made a wonderful Thanksgiving treat! As pictured, they even got to crush their own rosemary using a mortar and pestle!
