February Community Outreach Project Continues
This Thursday, February 11, St. Peter's School students will celebrate PINK DAY. This special day features events and fundraisers to benefit precious Emily Ransom's namesake foundation for neuroblastoma research, Emily's Power For A Cure.
The day's events include raising money through the sale of heart beads, silicone bracelets and handmade pink scarves (as pictured) to complete students' pink and red wear for the day. That morning, the entire school will parade (in pink, of course) to Emily's Garden for a brief prayer service, led by alum parent Jodi Martin. The school has also been collecting "Coins for A Cure" in special heart-shaped buckets to raise money for this foundation.
This month-long program is just one of St. Peter's School's community outreach projects. Each year, 4-5 programs are selected for school-wide participation, including collecting items for McKamey Animal Shelter, collecting toys for Santa's Workshop through the Northside Neighborhood House and raising money to purchase treated mosquito nets in Africa to stop the spread of malaria through the 'Nets for Life' program.
Community Outreach is just one of the four hallmarks of the St. Peter's Difference. Through service projects, students learn that their gift is for giving. At St. Peter's, teachers aim to teach children the joy of finding a purpose larger than themselves and the joy of serving others.
