The 1st grade classes enjoyed their visit to the CDM Science Theater last week! They participated in a lecture demonstration about matter and its different states – solid, liquid, and gas. Ask a 1st grader about the balloon that exploded into a fireball, and the banana that Matthew tried to use as a hammer. Emma investigated a frozen flower, and our wonderful guide created small rockets with empty film canisters and liquid nitrogen. After the lecture, the classes worked through stations in small groups to study the properties of dry ice (frozen carbon dioxide). What a great trip!
