"Using the Buddy System" at St. Peter's School
We have created some interesting buddies this year at St. Peter’s! Teaming up to better each students reading skills include Mrs. Gallagher’s 4th graders as reading buddies with Miss Betty’s kindergartners. Mrs. Lockrow’s 5th graders are reading buddies with Mrs. Mabry’s kindergartners. Many similar pairings occur each week at chapel, where differing ages are paired together for a unique chapel experience.
New this year is the creation of ART BUDDIES! Mrs. Maounis’s 5th graders meet with Mrs. Bell’s 3rd graders each Friday and create a joint project. Shortly afterward, Mrs. Maounis’s 4th graders meet with Mrs. Schlosser’s 3rd graders and often continue this project! Mrs. Lockrow joins the 3rd grade teachers with the art projects, while Mrs. Maounis joins Mrs. Mabry for reading.
A big goal of the ART BUDDIES has been to beautify our school with all the interesting things we study!!
Projects to date include:
-A painted mural of flowers on the back of the cabinet in Mrs. Lockrow’s room that faces carpool
-A mural of a field of flowers in the 2nd-3rd girls bathroom and an ocean of fish in the 2nd-3rd boys bathroom
