Our aftercare students welcomed a special visitor, Sergeant Joe Palmer, last week as a part of their Veteran's Day celebration. Sergeant Palmer has been serving in Iraq for the past 6 months with the National Guard as a helicopter mechanic. During his visit, he read H is for Honor to the preschool and kindergarten children and shared a very special red, white and blue snack. The children made thank-you cards that he took with him to read during his return flight to Iraq.
As a result of his visit, the aftercare students and staff have decided to send much needed toiletries and healthy snacks to the sergeant's unit for their holiday service project. If you are interested in helping with this endeavor, please contact our aftercare director, Mary Wright. The deadline for bringing in items is Tuesday, November 24th.
