December 4, 2009 News from St. Peter's School

Auction Items Needed Now

As the largest SPPAT fund raiser, we need everyone's participation to make the VIVA ST. PETER'S AUCTION a success. Currently, we are securing corporate sponsors. If you have a business or a contact at a business you feel might be interested, contact event chairs Rana Hill (ranahill@hotmail.com) or Tracy Tindall (tht@stonecrestproperties.com).

Donor letters and forms are ready in the office for you to use when securing items for the auction. Remember, you get one volunteer hour for every item you solicit. Believe it or not, this is a great time to ask for donations as you are out making purchases for the holidays. It's always easier to ask when you are making a purchase! With your help, VIVA ST. PETER'S will be incredible!

Soccer Storm Makes it to Tournament

Congratulations to our STORM soccer team which made it to the second round of the tournament this season. Despite their loss yesterday to OLPH, our students played an exceptional game with great team spirit. St. Peter’s should definitely win the “Good Spirit Award.” There are not enough words to thank our coaches, Bart Whalen and Bill Winchester. Our students learned so much from them not only about the game of soccer, but how to really work together as a team. We look forward to next year’s soccer season. Meantime it is on to basketball!

Food For Thought
DID YOU KNOW?

Ten seconds of idling uses more fuel than restarting your car. Please don't idle. Car exhaust contributes to asthma—the third ranking cause of hospitalization for children under 15.
MYTH—Restarting your car is bad on the engine and starter. Because of advances in lubricants and engine technology re-starting your car does not affect its components.
FACT—Excessive idling can actually damage your car. Idling contributes significantly to global warming, acid rain, and smog. Each day Americans unnecessarily burn 3.8 million gallons of gas while idling.
