VIVA St. Peter's Auction-- How Can I Help?
-Solicit items for the auction from your favorite stores or service providers. Check your Friday folders for a full information packet and form attached. (More forms are available in the school office if needed).
-Remember you get 1 SPPAT volunteer hour for every item you acquire (just make sure to record on your volunteer card!) If you own a business and would to like to donate time or a service, please do. Just complete an auction form and turn it in.
-It’s still not too late to be a corporate sponsor. Let us know if you are interested in participating at a sponsorship level!
-Submit names and addresses of friends you would like to add to the invitation list for the event. Talk it up with your friends; it’s going to be a great night!
-SAVE THE DATE, and get your babysitter now! You don’t want to miss this night. Please join us at Loose Cannon Gallery, February 27th, at 6:30 for VIVA ST. PETER’S.
PINK DAY project for Community Outreach
We are happy to announce our annual PINK DAY winter Community Outreach project, which benefits Emily's Power for A Cure foundation. This special project comprises several fun things:
-COINS FOR A CURE: Beginning next week, send in your loose change (or bills if you wish!) and drop in the PINK heart shaped bucket in your child's classroom. Coins will be collected until winter break.
-PINK DAY will be held on Thursday morning, February 11 (the day we dismiss for winter break). This fun day begins at dropoff with festive pink and red heart strands of beads for sale (.25-.50 each) before the PINK parade begins at 8:45 a.m. to march to Emily's Garden around the back flagpole.
-More information coming on special class projects and PINK DAY fun in upcoming weeks.
Several Classes Near 100% Participation in Annual Fund Drive
Thanks to all of the parents who have participated generously in the Annual Fund to-date. Our current parent participation in gifts and pledges now stands at 65% and we're still counting!
Here's the current tally:Ms. Bo- 70%, Ms. Holly- 55%, Ms. Ceacy- 75%, K1-64%,K2-73%, 1H-64%, 1S- 64%, 2R- 82%, 2S- 27%, 3B- 77%, 3S- 69%, 4G- 80%, M-67% and 5L- 69%.
***DEADLINE: For your child's class to qualify for 100% participation at the Sports Barn gymnastics party, your gift MUST be received by Friday, January 29th. Unpaid pledges do not apply to the participation goal.
***Pledge payments and gifts to the Annual Fund may be made until May 31, 2010, but January 31 is the deadline for the class participation party.
Haven't made your gift yet? You can go directly to the web http://www.saintpetersschool.net/www/docs/6.1181/ and make your Annual Fund gift on our secure site. Credit card gifts online can be made with Visa, Mastercard or Discover.
Sibling Applications and Financial Aid Deadline
New student applications for next year will go out at the end of January. If you would like to receive an application for a sibling, please contact Rana Hill in Admissions at 870-1794 or rhill@stpeters.org.
Interested in learning more about the other grade levels at St. Peter's for your child or their sibling(s)? Feel free to come to the Open House for prospective parents, Thursday, January 28, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. This informal afternoon allows parents (and children if they wish) to visit classes and speak with teachers in a casual, relaxed setting.
Applications for financial aid for the 2010-11 school year are due on Feb. 19. If you plan to apply, you may do so online at http://sss.nais.org. The school code is 6908. If you are not able to file online, please contact the school office for an application form or call the office if you have any questions.
News You Can Use
GIRL SCOUT COOKIE TIME: St. Peter's own Girl Scout Daisy Troop will be selling girl scout cookies this year. Look for order forms in Friday folders next week and support your school's troop. Contact Jaime Melton at jmelton@stpeters.org for more information.
MY SCHOOL'S COOL: Next Tuesday, January 19 is "Family Fun Night" at Northgate Mall. Dine at a mall restaurant or surrounding eatery and earn quadruple points for St. Peter's!
HATS OFF to all our students and families that participated in the recent toy drive for Northside Neighborhood House's "Santa's Workshop." Our school collected over 200 toys/books for their workshop and made another child's Christmas much brighter. Thank you!
HATS OFF to third grade teacher Randi Schlosser and the SPROUTS, who were recently awarded a grant for the soon-to-be garden from the "Eat Smart, Healthy Starts Teaching Garden" grants program through the Health Department. This grant awards $1,000 for garden materials and the opportunity for Ms. Schlosser to attend a Master Gardener certification course.
CHORAL PRODUCTION OF BEAUTY AND THE BEAST: Tickets are now available for the fourth and fifth grade production of 'Beauty and the Beast,' on March 11-12. Tickets are $7.00 for adults and $3.50 for students/teachers and are available in the Music Room. All ticket proceeds benefit the fifth graders' year-end trip to Kanuga.
DON'T FORGET: Parent Teacher Conferences are next Friday, January 22. There will be no classes and no extended care. See Friday folders for notes home regarding scheduling of conferences.
LOST AND FOUND: Has the winter weather caused a few gloves or jackets to come up missing at your house? Check the tables for Lost and Found items next Wednesday-Friday, January 20-22. Tables will be set up in the school lobby and can easily be checked when you come for your child's conference. On Friday, all remaining items will be donated to charity.
UNIFORM REMINDER: Cold weather boots may be worn in below freezing weather only. However, please send tennis shoes for students to wear for p.e. classes on M-W-F.
M.L.K. DAY: This Monday is a school day for St. Peter's School. First through fifth grades will hold a special chapel and program (by second graders) in honor of Martin Luther King Day. All are welcome to attend. It begins at 8:35 a.m. in the chapel.
EXTENDED CARE: All December bill payments are due BY today, January 15.
MILK/JUICE ORDERS: These new orders begin on Monday, so PLEASE turn in your milk/juice orders if you haven't already.
LUNCH ORDERS: February Greenlife lunch order forms are going home in Friday folders. These are due MONDAY, Jan. 18.
GOLF COMMITTEE: The golf committee will hold its next meeting on Thursday, January 21 at 6 pm in the SPPAT room. Refreshments will be provided.
