Recently, St. Peter's SPROUTS club members participated in the Common Shelf, a local literacy and recycling project created by a group of this year's Leadership Chattanooga class.
SPROUTS decorated the bookshelves of this community bookcase with special literary and eco-themed artwork. It fit perfectly with the SPROUTS theme of reducing, reusing and recycling, with an added literary twist. Now complete, the bookshelf will remain on permanent display in the Waterhouse Pavilion at Miller Plaza. The Common Shelf is also unveiling a second community bookshelf at the Creative Discovery Museum, featuring children’s books.
*We were fortunate enough that day to have Maddie Godbehere, alum member of the class of 2009, join in on the fun!
The Common Shelf program works on the premise of "Take a book, leave a book" and is open to all members of the community free of charge. The program goal is to enhance and encourage literacy, art and community building in the area.
