Fourth and Fifth Grade Visits Tellus Museum

Our 4th and 5th graders traveled to the Tellus Museum in Cartersville on January 7th to participate in the "Farming For Fuel: Biofuels and Alternative Energy" program. The day kicked off with a Planetarium show entitiled "Heart of the Sun" which provided a glimpse inside the star that is at the very center of our universe. Afterwards, the students explored the energy we use to power cars, aircrafts and rockets and how combustion engines work to propel us on the ground, into the air and out to the planets. Finally, students experimented with alternative energy sources, emphasizing biofuels made from non-food plants, to see how successful these would be as a source of fuel.

If you have not visited Tellus Museum, check out their website. It truly has something for every age!
