St. Peter's celebrates Dia De Los Muertos

Last week, school students and faculty gathered together for a special Dia de los Muertos program, reflecting a beautiful Mexican tradition in which they honor the deceased. In Mexico, the day is truly a celebration of life, with bright colors and festive artwork.

As students had recently studied Mexican culture and geography with Ms. Ann in Spanish class, each created their own artwork to share at the program. Younger students decorated friendly looking skull faces, made marigold flowers out of tissue paper or simply wrote and drew about loved ones that had passed away.

Parents and faculty were also invited to add names of deceased loved ones to a special scroll which will be displayed each year at the Dia De Los Muertos celebration.

We extend a special thanks to school parent and church director of Christian education Dana Jones, parent Christina Glidden and Ms. Ann for their assistance in making this special event come together.
